SUNDAY 9th MARCH 7.30 PM
This tour with the Welsh jazz band BURUM, in collaboration with Wales Arts International.
4 City India tour with finale in Goa.
Led by award winning trumpeter Tomos Williams, Burum is a jazz quintet with a difference; the joker in the pack being the addition of renowned Welsh folk musician Ceri Rhys Mathews on bag pipes and wooden flute to a rhythm section comprising Dave Jones (piano), Aidan Thorne (bass) and Mark O’Connor (drums).
The band’s repertoire is drawn from Welsh traditional music, adapted and re-imagined for a modern jazz quintet. Burum’s music fuses a deep respect for the original folk melodies themselves with the flexibility and dynamics of jazz improvisation.
